Nikolaiviertel It's here, where it all began in the 13th century. What today is Nikolaiviertel was then a little village called Berlin. It's situated on the eastern shore of river Spree and is a strange mix of the reconstructed historical heart of Berlin and post -World War II GDR apartment blocks with fake historic fronts.
