Zoo
station - outside...
...
and inside
The
backside of Bahnhof Zoo. It was heavily featured in the German
cult-movie "Die Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo" as a meeting point for gays who
like to buy sex. That was true then and it still is today.
A
pretty small queue for Knut on a cold sunday morning
in April 2008 at the zoo's gate.
Two minutes
away to the north from crowded and busy Zoo station
you can start
your
walk into the tranquility of Berlin's district of Tiergarten.
That's
"Oberschleuse" (upper lock). Sometimes you wonder how the
captains manage to get their ships through it without touching
the
walls.
About
five minutes from Zoo station.
Where else in the western world can you find houseboats in the city's
center?

Bahnhof Zoo
Until
the opening of Hauptbahnhof in 2006 Zoo station
used to be Berlin's central railway station. But it still is a major
tourist attraction because of its proximity to various points of interest, as there are:
Breitscheidplatz with its memorial
church
Kurfürstendamm, Berlin's
most famous boulevard
Zoologischer Garten, the home of icebear Knut
The
lock of Landwehrkanal
The
Tiergarten park
