Liebknechtbrücke
This
is the place to catch a watertaxi for a one hour trip on River Spree
through Berlin's inner city. The taxis actually are bigger ships, don't
expect a Venice-type gondola. If you only see a single small ship or no
ship at all, you got the wrong bridge, the neighbouring
"Schloßbrücke". In that case walk east for two minutes to
reach Liebknechtbrücke.
The
trip is Euro 7.- per person (2008) and the ships leave every 30 minutes.
There
also is the "DDR Museum", displaying a lot of items from the former
German Democratic Republic. And of course there are street dealers
to provide you with communistic caps, flags, badges
or a gas mask - if you need one. As the Berlin city air is pretty
clean, they don't sell too many...
Right
around the corner is the Berlin Dome.
How to get there:
Go to Hackescher Markt with S3, S5, S7, S9 or S75. From
there it's a five minute walk to the bridge. Bus 100 from Bahnhof Zoo
or Alexanderplatz also takes you there.
