The backside

Eastside Gallery

1990 was THE year for Berlin's young artists. The completely naked eastern side of "THE WALL" had to be painted with graffiti. It took a couple of months, but finally the job was completed. And then Germany's politicians decided to tear the wall down, instead of leaving it as one huge tourist attraction. They could have built some doors here and there.

There's not much left of the wall now. The longest piece (about 1 km) is called East Side Gallery and is located between Oberbaumbrücke and Ostbahnhof in the district of Friedrichshain. The street is called "Mühlenstraße".
