Flaktower
In
September 1940 Hitler
ordered the construction of undestroyable flaktowers to protect Berlin
against allied bombers. They were built in Tiergarten, in
Friedrichshain and in the people's
park Humboldthain in the district of
Gesundbrunnen.
Inside the towers there were bunkers for about 15.000 civilians.
After the war, the undestroyable towers were demolished by the allied
forces.
The Humboldthain tower partially survived and has been reconstructed
and is now a major point of interest in the park.
You can book guided tours to explore the inside of the towers
and bunkers. >>> Information

How
to get there:
Take U8, S1, S2, S25, S41 or
S42 and get
out at Gesundbrunnen. Follow the signs to Badstr. or Brunnenstr. If you look west you can see the flaktower from the station and
it's a five minute walk.
