Very important in Heiligensee: fences

A highlight in Heiligensee: someone standing on the sidewalk

Here you pay your money to get into the lake

The sand dunes

This is the district of Heiligensee

If you like gardening in your weekend house, Heiligensee is a good place for you. Of course you have to buy or rent one beforehand.
Although nicely located beneath two lakes, the district is of no value for tourists. The lakes are either fenced in or their beaches are private property.
On the southern side a small part of the lake is used as a public swimming pool.

The nice part of Heiligensee is called "Baumberge". A landscape made of sand dunes and trees. Good for a walk or for having a party in the sand. You find the sand dunes along a street called "Elchdamm".

How to get to Heiligensee:

There's an S-Bahn station called Heiligensee, but it is on the northern tip of the district, a long way from lakes and sand. If you want to go "downtown" you go to Alt-Tegel with U6 and there you take Bus 133 to Alt-Heiligensee.
